THE STORY
2242 - The Year of The Static
The Great Meltdown of the 22nd century has left the world's continents as scorched, lifeless deserts. The last bastion of human civilization is a sprawling network of cities and outposts carved into the ice shelves and bedrock of a climate-controlled Antarctica.
This frozen continent is a fragile paradox: a vibrant, last-ditch effort at survival built upon a foundation of eternal ice.
The Gang Wars
The first settlers of Antarctica were not unified. They were the remnants of global powers and ruthless corporations, and for decades, they fought brutal, technologically-advanced "Gang Wars" for control of the continent's limited arable land, fresh water, and geothermal energy.
These wars were fought not with bullets, but with data-hacks, terraforming weapons, and ice-drilling mechs. A fragile peace was eventually forged, but it was a peace of mutual exhaustion, not trust.
The Collapse
The central government, a council known as the "The Citadel," has collapsed. A devastating solar flare, known as "The Static," wiped out most of the global network, including the Citadel's core AI. With the central authority gone, the old treaties are null and void. The various gangs, clans, and corporate remnants have re-emerged, no longer fighting large-scale wars, but engaging in a brutal, every-man-for-himself struggle for survival.
